Ways of Getting Good Golf Lessons

Taking golf lessons helps beginners to learn faster. In golf, taking lessons could help those who are just starting to learn faster and those mastering the game become better players. Whatever your reasons for learning to play golf is, business, recreational or professional, good golf lessons will come in handy.

Taking golf lessons, you can learn the basics and perfect the game. You can learn what it takes to come up with a master swing that will always let you be in control of the ball. You can also get to learn how to determine the uses of which club is best for which distance and which shot and how to read the golf course...

Private Golf Lessons

Private golf lessons are great and better, as you get one on one coaching suited to your individual needs. Private golf lessons are really a great way to learn golf. You are the only student and have the instructor all to yourself and he will only be concerned about you achieving the best in your game in a way that is most convenient for you. If you have a great golf instructor, one who is actually a master of the game, you can get extras likelearning certain secrets that you won’t get elsewhere. And the only thing with private golf lessons is that they can be quite expensive since the golf instructor gets to focus on your needs alone during your lessons but if you have the budget, then go for it.

Group Golf Lessons

Another way of getting golf lessons is going with a group. This will help you improve your game for lesser cost. With group golf lessons you get to learn the game in groups. You will learn your lesson with a group. The upside of such lessons apart from the price is that you get to interact with others and even practice with them giving you the necessary competitive edge that is necessary to bring out the best in you. The only downside to group golf lessons is that there is not much room for tailoring the lessons to individual needs, the instructor is more interested in teaching you all as a group . But if you are serious with it, you can take the lessons you learn in your group study into your personal practice and improve your game easily.

Self Taught Golf Lessons

Another way is to learn the lessons yourself. This is what I call self-taught golf lessons or self-study method. By self-taught, I mean you need to go out of your way to research free lessons yourself. You can use the internet to research free golf lessons and tips, and work them into your game. Self- taught golf lessons requires a lot of trial and error to get your game right but that doesn’t make it impossible. You just need to work extra hard and be willing to do all it takes to improve your game. Yet, it can give you the satisfaction and pride that you made it by yourself by sheer determination.

A willingness to learn has always been the major difference between the champions and the average players in the world. If you are really interested in mastering the game of golf you must be willing to learn and go ahead and take golf lessons that will help you improve your game and help you master the game.

SUMMARY

Golf lessons can make mastering the game a wonderful experience. Such lessons could be private golf lessons, group golf lessons, or self taught golf lessons.

Beginner Golfer's Guide to Buying Their First Golf Clubs

All golfers have to have a set of golf clubs. Beginners can be clueless on what clubs they actually need. Here are some tips on what to get.

Oftentimes, beginner golfers face the dilemna of what it is they have or need to buy when they go to their local store to purchase their first golf clubs. And why won't they be? There a lot of different things to choose from. From the cheapest to the most expensive golf clubs, the most popular ones or the ones the pros are using. And this article is aimed to help you and guide you in buying your first set of golf clubs.

Golf clubs manufacturers create golf clubs with the goal of maximizing "the
physics of a golfer's swing" but at the same time allowing for a range of swing
error to provide and accurate, yet forgiving shot. So to be able to choose the
golf clubs most appropriate to your specifics, you have to get evaluated by a
professional before going to the store. So the better swing you have, you need
the less forgiving club.

The rule of thumb according to association rules is that you can't have more than fourteen clubs in your bag and one has to be a putter. So let's get on.

Woods
There are three woods that golfers need: the 1-driver, 3 and 5. The wood is a
hollow-bodied large headed club. These clubs are used when you are 175 yards
or more away from the green, specifically off the tee.

Irons
A standard set of irons consists of: 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9. Irons are typically used
when you are 200 yards or less from the green. The closer you are to the green,
the higher number iron you will use.

Wedges
Just a fancy word for a specialty iron really. Common used wedges in golfers’
sets are the pitching wedge, sand wedge, approach wedge, lob wedge and high lob wedge. These clubs can be extremely useful to a golfers game. These assist you in controlling your shots.

Putters
If you ever played putt putt then you know what these are for. That’s right! It gets the ball into the hole. It is used on the green only and there are a wide variety of putters out there to choose from.

As a beginner golfer, you don't really have to buy a complete full set to start golfing. You can start out with a short set which consist of a 3-wood, 3-iron, 5-iron, 7-iron, 9-iron and a putter. And once you get better, learn your yardage better and more knowledgeable on the physics of clubs, you can just buy the missing clubs later. Or you may just buy a short set second hand for a start, sell it later or trade it in for a new full set.

Golf Fitness Tips - Five Benefits Of Adding A Few Simple Exercises To Your Golf Game

Fitness is a major priority for professional golfers on tour these days. Golf, like any other physical activity, takes a good amount of stamina because you're constantly pushing yourself to excel and you're doing a lot of walking while you're out on the course.

Although it's important to focus on improving your golf game, you'll also need to keep in shape in order to increase your stamina and prevent injury that could keep you out of commission. Here are a few tips that will help to keep you on track:

#1. Participate regularly in some form of strenuous cardio activity. This can be running, swimming, sprinting (hill sprints are excellent cardio builders and a good fat burner), stair stepping, treadmill, etc. This will also improve the strength in your hips and your lower body.

Always remember to stretch before and after any type of strenuous exercise. This is not only important to decrease soreness after your workout, but most importantly to help prevent injury.

#2. Improving Abdominal strength is helpful in preventing injuries to your lower back. This is an injury common to golfers. You can improve your abdominal strength by doing sets of sit ups, crunches, swimming, etc.

Another injury common to beginning golfers is shin splints. You may also have these if you've taken an extended lay off from the game and are just returning. The best recommendation that I can make for shin splints is to take a slower pace when starting out or returning to the game. I've personally suffered with shin splints ever since my days in the military and it just takes time to build or rebuild the strength in the muscles in that area of your legs.

Try riding a stationary bike regularly to increase your leg strength, hill sprinting (in short sets) will help a lot, but don't overdo it at first, swimming is also excellent because it takes the body weight off your legs. Hold on to the side of the pool and do plenty of kicking exercises, both on your stomach and on your back.

Once again, remember to take it slowly and you'll be back in the game before you know it.

#3. Upper body exercises will not only help your stamina, but also help you to improve your swing. Exercises like push-ups (arms and chest), sit-ups (lower back and abdominal muscles), mountain climbers (brutal, but effective) and even jumping jacks will help you to increase the strength in your torso and hips, which will result in you being able to have more "push off" power in your down swing, hit the ball straighter and farther than before and also improve your consistency.

#4. It's also a proven fact that exercising regularly will help to reduce stress, therefore helping you to "keep your cool" on the back 9 while the other guy sweats and stresses out. You'll also feel better off of the course too. You can realistically count on a "whole life" benefit from working out. Oh, you'll also lose weight and lower your cholesterol.

Let's recap what we've learned here.

#5. Doing the correct exercises on a regular basis will help you to improve your golf game, reduce your risk of injury, increase your strength and stamina and also have great health benefits, such as weight loss, lowering bad cholesterol and looking and feeling emotionally better.

One last question....What are you waiting for?

Start incorporating fitness into your golf game today!

Four Qualities You Need to Succeed in Golf

Like in any other sports, succeeding in golf demands
some qualities for a golfer to succeed. And it is always
a must that one would possess all these qualities to make it.

Determination
Any successful golfer or athlete will agree that one of
their secrets of success is determination. Obstacles
is always present in any kind of endeavor in life and
golf is no exception. A strong determination is crucial
to success. No amount of hardships will stop a
person that possess a strong will and determination.
No obstacles or failure is too big for someone who is
really determined to make it in his chosen field, whether
in sports, business or life in general. Do you think Tiger
Woods got to where he is right now without a strong or
fierce determination?

Discipline
People wanting to succeed in life, be in business or
sports needs discipline. Golf is a game to learn and
master. It takes a lot of patience and discipline to
achieve a level of success more so with mastering
the game. Golf is an interesting game if you know
and understand its nature. Great golfers play with
confidence during competitions or tournaments as
a result of their discipline in setting a rigid practice
schedule. Self-discipline helps you stay focused
and become master golfer.

Practice
The world top and great golfers and athletes all
agree that practice makes perfect. Had it not been
for their rigid and disciplined practice regimen,
they won't be as great as they are now. There is no
substitute for constant and regular practice. The
more you spend time in practice, the better you
become. So, anyone aiming to become a master golfer
should develop a disciplined practice regimen
and stick to it at all cost.

Learning From Better Players
Aside from determination, discipline and practice, there
is still one thing that you can do to really improve and
succeed in golf. To really improve your skills you must
learn from and play with those better than you. Learning
from better players will make you a better golfer. So, it is
wise to associate yourself with great masters and ask them
for tips about how to improve your game and for sure
they would be very eager to help you.

To be a success at golf you need to know what the game is
all about, be determined, disciplined, practice well, improve
your game and learn from others. If you start right you
will really be amazed at how much success you will have
in the game of golf.

SUMMARY
Success in golf depends on how determined and disciplined
you are, how much time you practice to perfect your game
and your willingness to learn and improve your skills. Golf
is an interesting and beautiful game to master. Go for it.

Golf- What You Need to Play

I would like to offer some tips on equipment purchase and what would be required to get started playing golf. Beside club purchase, there are additional items necessary to prepare yourself for play. The next most obvious items are a golf bag and golf balls. If you are purchasing a starter set of clubs many come with a golf bag included. If you like to walk and enjoy a little workout as you play there are carry bags, which are light weight and are slung over your shoulders. There are other bag options for you to choose from and I would suggest that you speak to the sales representative in your local pro shop or golf store (ie; Dick's Sporting Goods and Golfsmith would provide this service) and ask him to explain the different types and price range to best suit your needs. Golf balls can also vary dramatically in price - from about $9.99 /dozen to $45.99 for the best balls on the market - Titleist Pro V and Pro V1x.

As a beginner I would recommend that you buy the more economically priced balls. The difference in performance will be negligible and you will have a tendency to lose more balls as a novice so why waste money? As you improve, you can always upgrade the type of ball that you use - I would recommend purchasing about two dozen balls to get started. There are also different compression golf balls made. 80, 90 and 100. The compression selected is directly proportionate to how fast you swing and your golf mechanics. I will not elaborate on this right now but an 80 or 90 compression ball should be more than adequate for now. If you have some power and a fairly quick swing, I would opt for the 90 which may give you a bit more distance. NOTE: The professionals and low handicap players use the higher compression balls because their impact speed and swing mechanics will allow the ball to compress properly, thus attaining the maximum result in distance. Some other equipment I would strongly recommend would be as follows:

A golf towel, golf shoes ( though not absolutely necessary it will assist with stability as you swing), Golf tees ( Note: there are different height golf tees made for different drivers, woods and irons - I would recommend that you pick up an assortment of sizes - 2 1/8" for woods and irons & 2 3/4" or 3 1/4" for Drivers depending on type and size. Check with golf pro or sales person for recommendations if not sure), a golf glove ( not required but it will give you a definite advantage in gripping and holding the club more effectively), ball markers ( used on the green to mark your ball so you will not to block the path of your fellow player - a rule of golf etiquette), and a divot repair tool ( used to repair the indentation made in the green when the golf ball lands - one of the rules of etiquette to be addressed in a future writing ). Although not required to play golf, you may want to consider packing the following ancillary items : Band-aids, sunscreen and insect repellent. You never know when you may need them and it's better to be prepared to allow for maximum comfort while you play. I think we've covered most of the essentials and if you have any questions please feel free to submit them to me. Now you've got the Desire, you've got your equipment, next step is to learn how to play- "The Right Way".

There are a number of different options available to learn how to play golf. You can self teach ( read books and watch instructional videos), ask a relative or friend who knows how to play to teach you, if you are in a high school or college that offers a golf program - enroll in the program, take lessons from the golf pro at your local driving range, take golf lessons from the professional at your local golf course, golf store, private club or pro shop or enroll in a golf school. The method you choose can greatly effect your results so be sure to make the right decision for you.

Basic Guide on How To Play Golf

You probably know the famous Tiger Woods, who conducts
business in the golf course, and maybe you also have the
desire to become like him and you want to experience life
in a golf course. This guide on how to play golf will help
you understand the intricacies of this game. Golf is unlike
any other game that requires power. Golf is more of strategy.

The most common mistake of golf beginners is that they are
giving so much power to hit the ball. And this is not
the proper way to play golf. This article is aimed at
helping you to learn how to get started and learn the tricks
so that you will not only enjoy this game but be successful
in your business while playing.

Of course, you know that you will need a golf club.
However, you will need many types of golf clubs.
What are they?

Putter
Wood
Iron
Wedge
Driver

All these golf clubs differ in characteristics and
while playing a single game, you may need all of them.

Additionally, you will need to be comfortable with
your golf club;this is to ensure that you will be able
to swing the ball easily.

One important thing however, you do not need to spend
hugely on a new and branded golf club. The reason is
that each golf club has its own weight, function and if
you buy a golf club that does not fit your competency,
you may play poorly and your money spent on the golf club
will be useless.

The wise thing for you to do is to try renting golf club
for your first few visits to the golf course, and when you
finally found the right golf club for you, then it's time
that you may venture into buying your first golf club. The
price of the golf club will not speak for your game play,
thus, choose your golf club wisely.

By the way, the subject of our article is how to play golf,
so let us move on.

We have discussed the golf club already, so the next steps now.

* Learn the swing
* Find a mentor
* Enjoy the game

Learn the swing
The common mistake of beginners is to give their swing
all the power they can muster. This may bring your ball
forward but the direction may be the problem. What you
need is for you to learn how to comfortably swing your golf
club that it will give your ball direction and distance.

You can achieve this by constant practice. Also, try to
observe other players around you.

Find a
Mentor!
This is important. Even professional have mentors that gave
them the guidance on how to play the golf well. Especially
for beginner like you, your mentor will guide you on the tricks
of how to play golf. Or you can join a community of golfers that can help you in mastering the game. Check one golf community to join.

Enjoy the game

This is the most important trick of all.You will find it hard
to learn the swing, you may bring your ball north, south, east
or west, and you surely will become frustrated. However, all
of the above are part of beginning a certain endeavor, thus learn to laugh at your mistakes and bring home the enjoyment of playing golf.

There is nothing more important in any game but enjoying it.
Golf is no difference, so hit the green and go for it.
